Dodge City - Marie Elizabeth Kreger, 98, died May 11, 2012 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City. She was born on April 25, 1914 at Russell, the daughter of Adam K. and Marie E. (Ruf) Bender.

Mrs. Kreger lived in Russell until 1919, at which time she moved to Wakeeney. She lived there until moving to Dodge City in 1939. She married her loving husband Walter A. Kreger on May 26, 1939 in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1979. She worked as a sales clerk for JC Penney for twenty eight and one half years, and retired in June of 1979.

She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, R.S.V.P., Dodge City Womens' Chamber of Commerce, Caring Mothers, Toys For Tots, and also volunteered at Boothill and Trinity Manor Nursing Home.

She is survived by four generations of nieces and nephews, family and friends. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.

Funeral service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Kent Groethe presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Christ the King Lutheran Church, Dodge City in care of the funeral home.
