Sublette - Agnes "Marie" Leonard, 76, of Sublette, went home to the Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Advent Health, Shawnee Mission. Marie was born September 11, 1945 in Larned, the daughter of Albert G. and Katie V. (Bird) Anderson.

Marie graduated from Garfield High School and then attended Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She taught grade school for 26 years before retiring. She married Dana Ralph Leonard in Larned, July 21, 1963. They were married for 54 years.

After retirement, Marie and Dana resided in Mission. They enjoyed traveling to Santa Fe, New Mexico and Buena Vista, Colorado. After the passing of Dana, she filled her time with her devoted dog companion "Abby". Marie was full of love and always wanting to care for others, family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included working in the yard, Facebook, watching KC Chiefs, KSU Football and helping care for her granddog "Cooper".

Preceding her in death are husband, parents, and brother Charles Lange, Jr. Marie's loving memory lives on in the hearts of her children, Dana Leonard II of Overland Park, Darren (Stephanie) Leonard of Garden City, and Devin (Cindy) Leonard of Benton; grandchildren, Tiffany Leonard (David Leaton), Christina (Hunter) McMillen, Courtney (Conagher) Britton, and Hayley Leonard; and great-grandchildren, Serenity and Haven.

Graveside service will be held at the Hanston Cemetery on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 1:00 to 7:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5:00 -7:00 PM. In honor of Marie's love for animals, memorials are suggested to the KC Pet Project in care of the funeral home.
