Marilyn L. Thomas, 84, died December 26, 2011 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born on September 6, 1927 in Arkansas City, the daughter of Harvey A. and Elma N. (Hallock) Monical.
Marilyn graduated from Plainville High School. She worked for the gas company and as the church secretary at the Methodist Church both in Plainville. On August 1, 1954, she married Gail Earnest Thomas in Plainville. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2002. Marilyn contracted polio as a child and never let that stand in the way of living life to the fullest.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the UMW Circle both of Dodge City and served on the Residence Council at Trinity Manor.
Marilyn is survived by two sons, Jeff Thomas of Ft. Dodge and Terry Thomas and wife Mary of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Richard Monical of Wichita; and two grandchildren, Garrett and Kayley Thomas of Kansas City, Missouri. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Lance Carrithers presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, December 29, 2011 from noon to 8:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M..
