Obituary

Dodge City - Marion Allen Raub, 75, died March 5, 2012 at his home. He was born on September 12, 1936 at Frankfort, KS the son of Clifford and Hannah (Thomas) Raub.

He married Dorothy McClary on June 2, 1962 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Blue Rapids, Kansas, she survives. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Allen was a farmer and also worked as a welder for Speed King for 17 years. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family. Allen enjoyed going to Bingo and the Casino, and watching game shows. He enjoyed working on his truck and tractors and taking care of his horse and bird dogs. Allen was a jokester, always giving the grandchildren the turkey.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City. And was a past member of the Moose Lodge of Dodge City.

Survivors include wife Dorothy Raub of the home, two sons David and wife Laura Raub of Bucklin; Dan Raub of Topeka; one daughter Connie Mellies and husband Jeff of Sliver Lake, KS. two sisters Margaret Sunnenberg and husband Jim of St. George, KS; Marjorie Samsel of Topeka, KS; four brothers Bill Raub and wife Betty of Nebraska City, Nebraska; Richard Raub and wife Gloria of Centeralia,KS;Don Raub and wife Ruth of Arkansas City, KS; Larry Raub and wife Betty of Home, KS; five sister-in-laws JoAnn Murk of Topeka, KS; Billie Gosen of Hillsboro, KS; Barb McClary of Quillene, Washington; Beverly Kennedy of Pleasantville, Texas; Katheryn Fox and husband Glen of Frankfort, KS. He is also survived by his grandchildren Elaine "Dani" Golden and husband Michael of Ford, KS; Desiree Tieman of Ortinz, Washington; Josh Raub and wife Mandi of San Diego, CA; Justin Raub of Logan, Utah; Jenifer Mellies of Topeka; Jeremy Mellies and wife Jenny of Sliver Lake, KS; Jason Mellies of Topeka, KS; Nicole Hamill-Golden and husband Patrick of Leoti, KS; Rusty Raub of Dodge City; Keith Raub of Silver Lake, KS; Santana Raub of Silver Lake, KS. Allen is also survived by his great grandchildren Aiden Lovelady of Silver Lake, KS; Daniel Ouderkirk of Eskridge, KS; Jazmine "Boo" Golden, Precious Golden, Justin Golden and Gage Golden all of Ford, KS; Kaylee Hamill, Piper Hamill,Henry Golden and Gage all of Leoti, KS; Aubrey Tieman, Esperanza Tieman, Janeah Tieman all of Ortinz, Washington, and Zachary Raub of Ortinz, Washington. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifford and James; and one infant sister, Jane.

Funeral mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. There will be no burial as cremation is to follow the mass . Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, March 9, 2012 from Noon - 5:00 PM. Vigil service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 7:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or Manor of the Plains Activity Department in care of the funeral home.
