Dodge City - Marita Pauline (Burr) Deis, 75, died February 19, 2011 at her residence in Dodge City. She was born on December 8, 1935 at Tribune, Co the daughter of Edgar Ross and Blanche (Whittiker) Burr.

Mrs. Deis grew up in Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City Senior High School and also attended Wichita State University for three years. On July 17, 1965 she married Edward Allen Deis in Liberal. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1998. She was a homemaker and worked for M.D. Roofing and Pine Tree Tag Company both of Dodge City. Marita enjoyed crossword puzzles, following politics and assisted with local elections.

Marita was a member of First Christian Church of Dodge City where she was a member of Swing Shift and Womens Council; and Cancer Support Breakfast.

Mrs. Deis is survived by a son, Mitchell Deis of Dodge City; two daughters, Emily (Williams)Thompson of Kansas City, Missouri and Nikki (Deis) Wooten and husband John of Lebanon, Missouri; two brothers, Bill Burr of Dewey, Oklahoma and Gary Burr of Hutchinson; two sisters, Janie Walters, of Sublette, and Donita Weece, of Unionville, Missouri; 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Marita was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son in law, Glenn Thompson.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday February 23, 2011 at First Christian Church of Dodge City with Mr. Gene Weece presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from Noon to 8:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Swaim Funeral Home.
