Obituary

Dodge City - Marjorie Jean Lasater Honnold, 93, died April 29, 2024 at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City, Kansas She was born on August 3, 1930 at Kirksville, Missouri the daughter of John Lee and Margery Marie (Wilson) Flinchpaugh.

Jean attended grade school and high school in St. Joseph, Missouri. She later graduated from St. Joseph Missouri Junior College in 1951, and later attended the University of Colorado majoring in Sociology. She worked in the radio and television field from 1970 until December of 2000. Jean also hosted Southwest Kansas Today, KTVC television noon show for 15 years, and later hosted the Coffee with Jean radio show for 30 years. She married John Lloyd Lasater on September 6, 1952 in St. Joseph, Missouri, he preceded her in death on March 7, 1995. She later married Robert Jack Honnold on May 3, 1998 in Dodge City, he survives.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dodge City, P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter DZ of Dodge City, Bas Bleu Study Club, Modern Mothers Club, Dodge City Area Women's Chamber of Commerce, Dodge City Community Concert Association since 1963 as a worker, Past Secretary and Board Member.

She is survived by her husband Jack of Dodge City; one daughter Shelley Marie Lasater Richards and husband Burton Richards III of Loveland, Colorado; two sons Thomas John Lasater of Wichita; Dant Jay Lasater and wife Gail Leis Lasater of Chesterfield, Missouri. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Parker Richards, Bryant Richards, Sutton Lasater, Jordan Lasater, John Lasater, Charles Lasater, Henry Lasater; two great grandchildren Sloane Windship, Brayson Richards and two step grandchildren Courtleigh Kilmer and Ronnie Kilmer. She is also survived by two stepchildren David Alan Honnold of Yuma, Arizona; Pamela Honnold Bacon and husband Christopher of Overland Park, Kansas, sister-in-law Phyllis Flinchpaugh of St. Joseph, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother John Larry Flinchpaugh; daughter-in-law Carla Lasater and step son Gary Honnold and step daughter-in-law Alyson Honnold.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Saturday May 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Jeff  Hiers presiding.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel  on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to P.E.O.
