Garden City - Marjory Ann Howarter, 93, passed peacefully on November 5, 2024 at Ranch House Senior Living, Garden City. She was born on January 26, 1931 in Wright, Kansas the daughter of Donald E. and Ellen (Baird) Crane.
Marjory was born and raised in Wright and was a 1949 graduate of Dodge City Senior High School. She then attended Dodge City Community College. On December 31, 1950 she married Cecil Douglas Howarter in Dodge City. Marjory was a homemaker and also worked in the kitchen at St. Mary of the Plains. She enjoyed playing Bingo. Marjory moved to Garden City in 2011 where she has resided since.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City and Women of the Moose.
Marjory is survived by her children; Alan Howarter (Barbara) of Wichita, Gary Howarter of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Cheryl Singhisen of Holcomb; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Douglas Howarter; and siblings, Robert Crane, Donald Crane and Mary Ellen Foulks.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Bernice Ludlum presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 1:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to SunPorch of Dodge City Activity Fund in care of the funeral home.
