Dodge City - Mark Steven Thomas, 71, died October 20, 2021 at the Kansas Medical Center, Andover.  He was born on October 7, 1950 at Dodge City, the son of Walter and Zola (Algrim) Thomas.

Mark grew up in Dodge City, attending Dodge City Public Schools and graduating from Dodge City High School. After high school, Mark worked for EMS, High Plains Dressed Beef, B&B Auto Parts, and finally Midwest Mixer Service LLC.

Mark was a family man. He loved spending time with his boys and his and Pat's grandchildren. He was also an outdoors man, enjoying sports such as softball and hunting. Mark also loved to spend time riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by three sons, Gary Thomas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Walter G. Thomas and wife Kiesha of Paris, Tennessee, and Chad Thomas and wife Tobi Jeurink of Olathe; six grandchildren, Emma Thomas, Christian Thomas, Alana Thomas, Ashton Thomas, Malicka Lewis and Shakeel Lewis; companion, Pat Gerber of Dodge City; Pat's children, Lance Gerber and wife Becky of Dodge City, and Shayna Bjork of Geronimo, Oklahoma; Pat's grandchildren whom he thought of as his own, H.D. Bone, Clinton Bone and wife Holly, Garritt Bjork and wife Kirsten, and Regan Gerber; and one great grandchild, William Bjork; and sister, Pat Abercrombie of Beloit. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Zola Thomas; brother, Don Thomas; and his ex wife, Pamela Thomas.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10:30 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding.  Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the Mark Thomas Memorial Fund to be designated by the family at a later date in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
