Obituary

Kalvesta - Linda Marlene Legg, 73, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 14, 2021. Marlene was born November 24, 1947, in Garden City, to Marvin & Ella Clark.

She attended grade school at White Mound and Theoni schools in rural Finney County. Marlene, affectionately known as Marty, then attended Cimarron High School, followed by Garden City Community College.  Marlene married George Legg on June 5, 1966 in Cimarron.  She and George lived their entire married lives in Gray and Finney Counties.  Over the years, Marlene worked in many capacities while being employed at Theoni School.  She was also the secretary/office manager of Cimarron Dairy, CAG Dairy, and Spandet Dairy. In addition, the Legg family owned and operated a dirt construction business for several years. Marlene recently retired in the fall of 2020.  Marlene had a love beyond measure for her family and friends, near and far.  Some of her most treasured memories were time spent with her brothers and sister, children, and grandchildren, enjoying many family reunions, activities, trips, programs, and sporting events.

Survivors include one sister, Shirley Poppe and husband Clyde, Montezuma; one brother, Curtis Clark and wife Waneen, Cimarron; her son, Clark Legg and wife Ruth, Kalvesta; two daughters, Janene Legg, Kalvesta, and Jaymie Ruder and husband Brian, Hays; one daughter-in-law, Stephanie ReQua and husband Nathan, Sedgwick; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.  Marlene was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Clint Legg; her parents; and two brothers Gary Clark and Kelly Clark.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron, from noon to 8:00 p.m. Out of respect for everyone's well-being, a private family memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at the First Baptist Church, in Cimarron with Rev. Richard Deimund officiating. Burial will follow at the Cimarron Cemetery.  The family requests mask be worn at both the visitation and funeral service. The service will be live streamed via the funeral home and First Baptist Church Facebook pages. Memorials are suggested to the Breast Center of St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Finney County EMS, or Pawnee Acre Community Building.
