Cimarron - Marlyn Anthony Redetzke, 72, died August 21, 2017 at Shepherd's Center in Cimarron.  He was born on January 24, 1945 in Great Bend, the son of Vernon and Susanna (Lang) Redetzke.

Marlyn was raised in Claflin, graduating from Claflin High School in 1963.  He then went on to further his education at Wichita Business College.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1966.  After his discharge in 1972, Marlyn returned to college at Fort Hays State University to complete a degree in English and Journalism. He later attended the University of Colorado where he received his MBA.  Marlyn worked in banking and finance for 35 years.  The last 17 years prior to his retirement, he was a bank president.  Marlyn also farmed for several years and was involved in many agriculture endeavors.   He married Margaret Elizabeth Carter on July 24, 1971.  Marlyn was fond of the outdoors, particularly Colorado, where he would hunt, fish, and ride motorcycle trails with his boys.

He was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Ingalls where he taught CCD classes and was an Eucharistic minister.  Marlyn was also a 3 ^rd degree Knights of Columbus member.

Marlyn is survived by his wife Maggie Redetzke of Cimarron; three sons, Justin Redetzke of Dubai, U.A.E., Brandon Redetzke of Kansas City, Missouri, and Bryan Redetzke of Provo, Utah; one brother, Joseph Redetzke of Buena Vista, Colorado; one sister, Darlene Buehler of Kansas City, Missouri; and five grandchildren, Dees, Stone, Kamber, Grey, and Annalauren Redetzke.  He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Redetzke.

Vigil Service will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ingalls Friday August 25, 2017 at 7:30 PM.  Funeral Mass will be held at the church on Saturday August 26, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Peter Tran presiding.  Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery with military honors by Howard Gotschall Post 1714 V.F.W. and the KSARNG Military Honor Guard.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron on Friday August 25, 2017 from noon until 5:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Gray County EMS or The Shepherd's Center in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
