MARVIN CLARK
Kalvesta - Marvin Clark, 90, died February 7, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. He was born on February 3, 1922 at Winslow, Arkansas, the son of Ebenezer Sheals and Lela B. (Pearce) Clark.
Marvin came to Finney County in 1941 to work the wheat harvest as a farm hand. On September 13, 1942, he married Ella"Shorty" Smith at Kansas City. He was drafted later that year into the U.S. Army and served in the European Theatre during WWII. He returned after the war to Finney County, and continued work as a farm hand. In 1953 he rented a farm that he eventually purchased in 1965 where he remained until his death. Mrs. Clark preceded him in death in 2004.
Survivors include two sons, Kelly Clark and wife Trudy, and Curtis Clark and wife Waneen, both of Cimarron, two daughters, Marlene Legg, Kalvesta, and Shirley Poppe and husband Clyde, Montezuma, one foster daughter, Samantha Sanchez, Ulysses, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Gary Clark, and one grandson Clint Legg.
Funeral service will be held at Cimarron United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Richard Deimund presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery . Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron, on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 12:00 PM til 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Marvin Clark Memorial Fund. in care of the funeral home.
