Obituary

Marvin "Jim" Schriner, 90, went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. He was born on July 17, 1920 at Riverton, Nebraska the third of twelve children born to Fred and Edna (Goebel) Schriner.

Mr. Schriner grew up in Riverton, Nebraska and attended schools there. Jim worked for Broce Construction for 55 years where he was a foreman and later worked at Broce Farms where he was the farm manager. On November 21, 1941 he married Doris Elaine Watkins at Smith Center. He was kind, gentle, and caring. Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He loved all sports especially baseball and also loved to hunt and fish. Jim raised premium Charlois Cattle.

He was a member of the Grace Communtiy Church of Dodge City. Previously, he drove the church bus for the First Baptist Church for over 40 years.

Jim will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 70 years, Doris Schriner of the home; three children, Kay Antrim and husband Denny Hensley of Seligman, Arizona, Ed Schriner and wife Teri of Erie, Colorado, and Nancy Kimbrel and husband Kent of Dodge City; nine grandchildren, Kim Rany and husband Cary, Dan Rudd and wife Kim, Angie Moore and husband Chris, Tami Bee and husband Jeff, Jeremy Schriner and wife Amber, Jill Schriner, Aimee Sandoval and husband Danny, Ryan Kimbrel and wife Paula, and Nathan Kimbrel; 14 great grandchildren; three brothers, Carl Schriner and wife Arvella, Raymond Schriner and wife Idella, and Maurice Schriner and wife Beulah all of Dodge City; sister, Alma Avery of Kearney, Nebraska, two sister-in-laws, Florence Schriner of Kearney, Nebraska and Zita Schriner of Dodge City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim has joined his parents; four brothers, Edward, Merlyn, Delbert, and Clifford; and three sisters, Wilma, Hilda, and Doris Jean.

Funeral service will be held at Grace Communtiy Church on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, May 30, 2011 from noon to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
