Dodge City – Mary Alexandria Alvarez, 75, died August 18, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. She was born on February 9, 1943 at Lyons, Kansas the daughter of Pedro Falcon Sr. and Margaret (Amador) Falcon.

She married Joe Alvarez on May 9, 1970 in Dodge City, he survives. Mrs. Alvarez graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Trinity Hospital, Western Plains Medical Complex, Dialysis Center as well as several years for the Ford County Health Department before retiring. She loved watching K-State Football and the Kansas City Royals. Mrs. Alvarez was a huge Mickey Mouse fan.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Altar Society all of Dodge City.

She is survived by her husband Joe Alvarez of the home; two sons John Alvarez and wife Joy Evelyn of Kansas City, Missouri; David Alvarez and wife Genny of Wamego; one sister Josephine Ries and husband Larry of Ness City; four brothers Antonio Falcon and wife Dora of Tucson, Arizona; Frank Falcon of Smithville, Virginia; Richard Falcon and wife Jessie of Dodge City and Lonnie Falcon and wife Fran of Great Bend. She is also survived by three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Gina Falcon, two sisters Gloria Falcon, Christina Rincon and one brother Pedro Falcon Jr.

Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday August 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Memorials are suggested to Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in care of the funeral home.
