Satanta - Mary Margaret "Marge" Wachs, 85, died July 11, 2017 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.  She was born on February 2, 1932 in Stockton, the daughter of Oliver Virgil and Mary Ella (Cadoret) Baker.

Marge graduated from Kensington High School.  She continued her education at Garden City Community, graduating with an Associate's Degree in Nursing.  Marge worked as a Registered Nurse, mostly at the Satanta Hospital and Satanta Long Term Care Unit.  On August 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Fred Wachs at the Glade Community Church in Glade, Kansas.  He preceded her in death.  Marge enjoyed crafting and gardening.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Ulysses.

Marge is survived by two daughters, Ruth Hammer and husband Chris of Sublette and Cynthia Irwin of Clayton, New Mexico; one son, Calvin Wachs and wife Rainie of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Olive Woltman of Boulder, Colorado; one brother, Harold Baker of Henderson, Nevada; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, Fred, she is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Mike, Alvin, Bill, Bruce, and Bud Baker; two sisters, Martha Glover and Alice McLean; and a great granddaughter, Krysta Johnston.

Funeral service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Ulysses on Saturday July 15, 2017 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Patrick Gumz presiding.  Cremation will follow the service and a private family inurnment will occur at a later date at the Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Friday July 14, 2017 from noon to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
