Mary R. Omo, 74, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at her home in Dodge City, Kansas after a short battle with cancer. She was born on August 11, 1935 in Dodge City, the daughter of Samuel and Pearl (Henry) Rutter.

She married Ray Omo on December 25, 1952 at Dodge City, he preceded her in death on September 22, 2005. Mary was a retired EMT and nurse. She also was an active volunteer for the hospital auxiliary, Hospice of The Prairie, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mary also enjoyed gardening and working outdoors. She cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Survivors include two daughters Terri Omo-Schmidt and partner Tim Wheaton of Dodge City, Rhonda Mock and husband Dean of Peoria, Illinois. Four granddaughters, Sydney Peters and husband Andy of Omaha, Nebraska, Danielle Snyder of Omaha, Nebraska, Cortney Schmidt of Overland Park, Kansas, Crosbi Schmidt of Dodge City, and one grandson Alex Schmidt of Wichita, Kansas. She is also survived by one great granddaughter Skylenn Garcia of Overland Park, Kansas and one brother Ed Rutter and wife Susan of Jacksonville, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Pearl Rutter; husband, Ray; daughter, Dana Omo; and a son-in-law, Gary L. Schmidt.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
