Mary Martha Reinert, 87, died May 14, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on March 27, 1925 in Clark County, near Minneola, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Wille) Beckerman .
Mary grew up in Fowler and graduated from Fowler High School. In 1946, she graduated from the former St. Anthony's Hospital School of Nursing. Mary was an R.N. and in 1950, she began working at the Southwest Clinic in Dodge City. She then went to Wichita State University and obtained her nurse clinician certification. Mary continued working in the nursing field until her retirement in 1988. On September 10, 1946, she married Cecil A. Reinert in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1975.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Altar Society both of Dodge City.
Mary is survived by three sisters, Sister Jude Beckerman, A.S.C. of Wichita, Cecile Beckerman of Salem, Oregon, Margaret Downing and husband Don of Gaithersburg, Maryland; one brother, Edwin Beckerman and wife Karen of Garden City; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary is preceded in death by six brothers, Louis, Raymond, Alvin, Leo, Leonard, and George Beckerman.
Vigil service will be on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 7:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City, on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from noon to 7:00 PM.
