SUBLETTE - Mary Susan Blume, 91, died November 13, 2014 at the Satanta Long Term Care Unit. She was born on August 11, 1923 in Garden City, the daughter of Plumb D. and Lena (Miller) Carl.

Sue graduated from Dighton High School in 1941. She worked as a county home-ec agent. On June 16, 1951, she married Willis Lee Blume at her parents farm in Lane County. They moved to Sublette after their marriage. Sue taught for awhile in Finney County at the Pierceville/Plymell Country School. She then substitute taught in Sublette and worked at the Haskell County Township Library. Sue enjoyed crafting, gardening, and her pets. Her family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them.

Sue was a member of the Sublette Methodist Church and U.M.W. She also served as a 4H leader.

Sue is survived by four children, Brian Blume, Ann Fisher, Beth Fenton, and Jay Blume; one sister, Martha Countryman; and five grandchildren, Wesley Fenton, Megan Fenton, Colton Blume, Cortney Blume, and Caden Blume.She is preceded in death by her husband Willis; her parents; and one brother, John Carl.

Funeral service will be held at Sublette Methodist Church on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Eddie Pennington presiding. Burial will follow at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from noon to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Sublette United Methodist Church or Haskell County Township Library in care of the funeral home.
