Obituary

Mary Frances Wiseman McGugin, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. She was born on December 21, 1917 in Dodge City, the daughter of George R. and Mary E. (Cohagan) Crane.

Frances attended school in California and Dodge City, completing her education with the Dodge City High School class of 1936. Mary Frances and George Henry Wiseman, Jr. were united in marriage in Hutchinson on August 27, 1939. They were married 58 years at the time of his death on December 22, 1997. She then married Rex McGugin on December 10, 2003 in Dodge City. He survives.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City, Order of Eastern Star, Tri Phi Sunday School Class, Builders' Sunday School Class, Junera Coffee Club, and United Methodist Womens' Church Circle #3. Frances served as sewing leader for they DIY jrs 4-H Club for numerous years and was a member of the DIY Extension Unit.

In addition to her husband Rex, Mary Frances is survived by a son, Niles Wiseman and wife Sue of Dodge City; a daughter Sondra Wiseman of Montrose, Colorado; two step-sons, Mike McGugin of Topeka and Terry McGugin and wife DeDe of Merritt Island, Florida; one step-daughter, Molly McVicker and husband Earl of Hutchinson; four grandchildren, Shelly Rowley and husband Eric of Emporia, Tony Burt of Lubbock, Texas, Amber Barham and husband Jeff of Eudora, and Matt Wiseman and wife Fabiola of Wichita; and 10 great grandchildren. She was also proceeded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gladys Hood and Bessie Lutz; and three brothers, Clifford, Donald, and George Crane.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Lance Carrithers and Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from noon to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or First United Methodist Church of Dodge City in care of the funeral home.
