Garden City - Matthew Thomas Seacat, 29, died July 1, 2018 at his home in Garden City. He was born on July 23, 1988 at Dodge City, Kansas the son of Derek and Sheila (Osborne) Seacat.
Matthew grew up as the youngest of three children and attended Dodge City High School. In 2007, Matt joined the Marine Corp and was awarded Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal while achieving the rank of Sergeant during his 5 years enlisted. Matt worked at Sunflower Electric for several years after leaving the Marines. He was working on finishing his college degree at the time of his death. Matt had the biggest heart and will be missed greatly
He is survived by his parents Derek and Sheila Seacat of Dodge City; two brothers Brian Seacat and wife Courtney of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Garret Seacat and wife Lora of Emporia; one niece Audra Seacat of Emporia; grandfather Eldon Osborne; grandmother, Emily Seacat; girlfriend Tiffany Jervis and man's best friend, Major.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Gladys Osborne and grandfather William Dean Seacat.
Funeral mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday July 6, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Inurnment will follow at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Ft. Dodge with full military honors. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to ASPCA or Finney County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
