Mavis Lillibridge, 97, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart. She was born on January 8, 1912, at the family home four miles east of Pittsburg, the daughter of Allen G. and Mamie J. (Botts) Kime.
Mavis attended twelve different schools through the first eight grades. In 1924, Mavis moved to Gray County. She attended Cimarron High School. On October 12, 1929, she married Alvin Lillibridge at the Christian Church in Cimarron. They moved to the Kalvesta community, where Alvin farmed until his death in 1977. Mavis then moved to Cimarron.
She was a member of Cimarron United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Church of Kalvesta, and of the Women's Society of Methodist Churches.
Mavis is survived by two sons, Kenneth Lillibridge of Cedar Creek, Texas and Al Lillibridge of Syracuse and daughter, Alveta Butcher of Dodge City. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, on August 27, 1977 and a daughter, Waneta Kelley.
Funeral service will be held at Cimarron United Methodist Church on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kent Little, Pastor Dale Kelley, and Pastor Bart Lillibridge
presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron on Sunday, April 12, 2009 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Cimarron United Methodist Church or to the Special Care Unit of Morton County Hospital in care of the funeral home.
