INGALLS - Max Sylvan Oyler, 67, went to be with his Lord, February 10, 2014, at his home. He started his life in the 4th month, 7th day of 1946, in Dodge City at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was the son of Raymond Payne Oyler and Mildred Alice Newberry. Max spent all but a few months of his life on the family farm north of Ingalls. He attended school at Solid Rock, a one room school, for one year and six years at Theoni grade school. He graduated from Cimarron High School in 1963.
In 1969, he met Phyllis Stone and they were married on December 21 of that year. To this union two children were born; Debra Elaine, September 5th, 1972 and Samuel Orren, December 1st, 1973.
He worked for Finney County as a grader operator and retired May 31, 2013 after 25 years of service. He then started helping Sam in his spa business and sign business in Garden City.
He was a member of the Kalvesta Nazarene Church, Ingalls Community Bible Church, and Cimarron Nazarene Church. Max was active in his church as a song leader, Sunday School teacher, board member and much more.
The greatest joy of his life was spending time with family especially his grandchildren. He was able to teach his son to be a good basketball player and had a couple of grandsons follow in his footsteps.
Laughter was very important to Max and he loved to make people laugh and always had a joke to tell. He had a positive outlook on life and wanted to share this with everyone he met. If anyone needed anything or he saw a way he could help someone Max was always there and willing. He felt God had blessed him and he should pass that on to others.
