Obituary

DODGE CITY - Melva Deane Turley, 92, died December 17, 2018 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.  She was born on April 13, 1926 at Spearville, the daughter of Arthur Ray and Esther (Ellis-Glaze) Railing.

Deane attended Dodge City Senior High School graduating with the Class of 1945. On July 25, 1946 she married William E. (Bill) Turley. They settled on the family farm 5 miles southwest of Dodge City where they farmed for the next 56 years. She was a homemaker and has been known as the first "Meals on Wheels" delivering hot meals for lunch each day to the wheat and corn harvest fields for Bill and his crew.

She belonged to the Ford County Extension, earning a 55 year certificate in 2013. Deane took the Menninger Bible Class and belonged to the Tuesday Noon Bible Class. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church and Martha's Circle of Dodge City. Deana also belonged to the TFT Card Club.

Her life's passion was her children and grandchildren including a great great grandson born in January. Until recently she attended as many ballgames, music concerts, dance recitals, ect as she could fit into her schedule.

Melva Deane is survived by a son, William D. (Sheri) Turley of Dodge City, a daughter, Geni Stanley of Dodge City, and son-in-law, Kevin Fralick of Dodge City; ten grandchildren, Chris (Deidra) Stanley of Dodge City, Bridget (Tom) Slattery of Thomas, Oklahoma, Shannon (Blaine) Crocker of Elizabeth, Colorado, Dr. Rex (Marci) Stanley of Dodge City, Trevor (Rebecca) Fralick of Dodge City, Robert (Jhunaida) Fralick of Naples, Florida, Susie (Mike) Racy of Montezuma, Kristi (Mark) Holthaus of Lenexa, Tanner (Brittany) Turley of Dodge City and Tegan Turley of Dodge City; great grandchildren, Wyatt (Shea) Stanley of Ulysses, Connor Slattery of Thomas, Oklahoma, Corbin Slattery of Thomas, Oklahoma, Caleb (Celeste-Emily) Crocker of Wamego, Cortney Crocker of Eilzabeth, Colorado, Christin (Brady) Kraft of Kiowa, Colorado, Cole Crocker of Elizabeth, Colorado, Keller and Deacon Stanley of Dodge City, Miquela, Izabella, Cayden, and Conner Fralick of Dodge City, Tatum, Ellyson, and Marley Holthaus of Lenexa, Richard, Gwen, Andrew, Brinley & Kevin Racy of Montezuma and Jackson Taylor, Leighton and Jett Turley of Dodge City; one great great grandson, Jake Stanley of Ulysses; a brother, Larry (Carroll) Railing of Ocala, Florida and sister, Billie Jean Keck of Colby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years Bill, two daughters, Robyn Fralick and Lt. Comdr, Retired, Leslie Turley, and two grandsons, John Michael Stanley and Blake Christopher Stanley.

Funeral service will be held at the First Christian Church on Saturday December 22, 2018 at 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday December 21, 2018 from Noon to 8:00PM with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00PM.
