Cimarron – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael (Mike) Jay Overton, who passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 at the age of 40 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mike was born on June 25, 1985, in Dodge City, Kansas. He worked at Croell as a crane operator where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic. Mike was a true outdoors guy who loved being on the water- whether kayaking, fishing, or just relaxing on the boat. He found joy in camping, barbecuing, and especially in spontaneous family road trips. He was always happiest when surrounded by family and close friends.

A country man, Mike loved putting on his cowboy boots and heading to a good concert. He never missed a Kansas City Chiefs game and was passionate about his faith, attending church as often as he could.

Survivors include: wife Cayse of Cimarron; daughters, Chesney Overton of Little Rock, Arkansas, Nayeli Najera Larman of Cimarron; sons, Kaden Larman and Daniel Najera Larman of Cimarron; mother, Susie Overton of Dodge City; sisters, Allie and Laydon Mills of Sheridan, Arkansas; Kalie and Greg Burleson of Sheridan, Arkansas; brothers Nick and Samantha Overton of Perryville, Arkansas; Chris and Julie Overton of Salina, Kansas; Grandpa, Robert "Bob" Graf of Dodge City; and a multitude of cousins, friends, and First Christian Church family that loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by daughter Mikayla Lynn Overton; father Jay Dean Overton of Perryville, Arkansas; brother Joshua Dean Overton of Dodge City; grandmother Jackie Nell Graf of Dodge City; grandparents William Stewart Blek and Barbara Louise Belk of Perryville, Arkansas; aunt Tammy Slattery of Dodge City; great grandmother Nettie Mae Rutledge of Perryville, Arkansas; grandpa Richard Dean Overton of MA; and cousin Jonathan Daniel Willenberg of Perryville, Arkansas.

Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church on Monday July 21, 2025 at 10:30 AM with Dusty Cookson presiding.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Michael Jay Overton Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
