Sublette - Michael Ted Sherwood, 88, passed away on July 20, 2024 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home, Hugoton.  He was born on August 26, 1935 at Satanta, the son of Arthur and Anne (Schaff) Sherwood.

A lifelong resident of Haskell County he was a graduate of Sublette High School. Mike served in the US Army and was stationed in Alaska. On August 26, 1972 he married Mary Jo McGivney. A longtime farmer in Haskell County he also owned and operated Sherwood Aerial Spraying for many years. Mike was active in the community serving on the Sublette Coop Board, Sublette School Board and Farm Bureau Board. He enjoyed fishing when he could find the time.

He was a 65 year member of the Sublette American Legion and attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Mike is survived by his wife Mary Jo Sherwood of Sublette; a son, Rusty Sherwood of Sublette; and grand daughter, Maddie Sherwood of Sublette. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Courtney and Gene and two sisters, Lorraine and Louise.

Vigil service will be at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held at the Church on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Charles Seiwert presiding.  Burial will follow at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette with military honors provided by the Sublette American Legion, SWKS Veteran's Funeral Honor Guard, and KSARNG Military Honors. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 from Noon to 5:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Sublette Fire Department in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
