Dodge City - Mildred B. "Millie" Stephens, 91, died December 12, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on July 6, 1921 at Howard, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Sylvia (Highsmith) Worford. The family lived on a farm near Eureka. In 1940 she graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton.
She Married W.A. Stephens on June 6, 1940 at Eureka and they came to Dodge City and have lived here since. On December 18, 1990 he preceded her in death. Millie was proud to be a homemaker and was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City and V. F. W. auxiliary both of Dodge City. Millie started the P.T.A. School Fun Nights in Dodge City. She was also involved with many volunteer projects in the area.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dick (Marcia) King of Larned and Mrs. Duane (Marilyn) Weber of Dodge City; four grandsons, one granddaughter, 11 great grandchildren, and a sister in law, Eileen Worford of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, December 14, 2012 from Noon to 8:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.. Memorials are suggested to the V.F.W.
