Obituary

DODGE CITY - Miriam Louise Winfrey, 81, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at her home in Dodge City. She was born on August 20, 1928 at Ensign, the daughter of Walter Roy and Bessie (Coate) Davis.

Miriam moved to Dodge City as an infant and attended schools there. She married Larry D. Winfrey on October 9, 1949. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1996. Miriam was a volunteer in the gift shop at Western Plains Medical Complex for 15 years. She was also a volunteer at Central School in Dodge City.

Miriam was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City where she was involved with Vacation Bible School and Sunday School.

She is survived by two sons, Rod Winfrey of Groveland, Florida and Cary Winfrey and companion Debbie Esquibel of Dodge City; a daughter, Ronda Kisner and husband Dave of Derby; a brother, Burt Davis and wife Mary Lou of Dodge City; and sister, Beunola "Boo" Dragoun and husband Frank of DeBarry, Florida. She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Miriam was preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan Winfrey; and two brothers, Larry and Floyd Davis.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 3:00 PM with Mr. Phil Scott presiding. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
