Dodge City - Myrna Gale Hamilton, 77, died June 17, 2017 at her home in Dodge City.  She was born on November 8, 1939 in Dodge City, the daughter of Garland B. and Goldie Ella (Winsor) Smith.

Myrna spent her childhood in Bloom.  She graduated from Bloom High School in 1957.  On June 20, 1958, she married John Hamilton in Blackwell, Oklahoma.  He survives.  After their marriage, Myrna worked as a CNA at Trinity Hospital in Dodge City.  She later returned to school at Dodge City Community College and obtained her R.N. degree along with her sister and aunt.  Myrna was a NICU nurse at the hospital in Dodge City for 13 years.  She then worked as a nurse at Halsey Hall at Fort Dodge until her retirement.  After her retirement from nursing, she was a paraprofessional at Dodge City High School until she retired a second time.  Myrna enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Myrna was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Dodge City where she was a nursery worker and also baked many cookies for the children's programs.

In addition to her husband John of Dodge City, she is survived by three daughters, Connie Leon and husband Jose, LaRae Leon, and Lisa Lindholm and husband Jr. all of Dodge City; a brother, Eddie Winsor of Phoenix, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Don Smith and Bobby Winsor; and a sister, Linda Smith.

Funeral service will be held at Bible Baptist Church in Dodge City on Wednesday June 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Albert Shrock presiding.  Burial will follow at Bucklin Cemetery.  Friends may sign the book at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Tuesday June 27, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  The casket will remain closed.  Memorials are suggested to Bible Baptist Church or Dodge City Community College Nursing Program in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
