Myrtle "Myrt" J. Gibson, 86, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born on April 11, 1923 in Dodge City the daughter of John Clarence and Mary Angeline (Northern) Kimbrel.

Mrs. Gibson was a lifetime resident of Dodge City. She graduated from Dodge City High School. She married Willie A. Gibson on August 14, 1956 in Raton, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1982. In 1994 she married Orlles E. Strickert. He passed away in 2005.

She was a member of VFW Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge both of Dodge City.

Survivors include one son, Willie A. Gibson, Jr. and wife Denise of Dodge City; two grandchildren, Danielle Rene Gibson and Austin Wayne Gibson both of Dodge City. In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, June 22, 2009 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
