N. LAREE (ROBINS) MAXWELL

Dodge City - N. Laree Maxwell, 89, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City, after a long illness. She was born on May 20, 1924 on the family farm south of Cimarron, the daughter of Sam and Ida (Woodward) Robins. She was the third of eleven children.

Mrs. Maxwell graduated from Cimarron High School and attended one year of college at Kansas State University. Laree married William F. Maxwell on September 26, 1943. She spent her adult life as a homemaker.

Laree was a member of Chapter CL, PEO of Cimarron. In life, Laree loved to bowl, play golf, and play bridge. She was also a 4-H leader in Cimarron, having taught many area young girls how to sew.

She is survived by four children: a son, Bill D. Maxwell of Lawrence, and three daughters, Jeanne (Mike) Ward of Modesto, CA, Jeanette (Brent) Magouirk of Dodge City, and Patti Jean (Russ) Basham of Dodge City; 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, John (Jack) S. Robins of Washington state and Don (Karen) Robins, Dodge City; and a host of nieces and nephews. Laree was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marian Campbell and Anna Beth Grooms; and six brothers, Dean, Bert, Leon, Lawrence, Richard and Bobby.

A celebration of life will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. There will be no public visitation as cremation has been performed. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
