Obituary

Cimarron - Nancy E. Brown, 72, died August 8, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on March 5, 1942 at Hutchinson , the daughter of Vernon and Thelma (Perry) Brown Woodward.

She was a graduate of Cimarron High School, and received her associates degree in practical nursing at Dodge City Community College. She worked for nineteen years as the evening charge nurse at Shepherd's Center, Cimarron, Kansas. She married Mark G. Brown. He preceded her in death. Nancy was an avid gardener and loved to can vegetables and grow beautiful flowers. In her earlier years she loved playing pool, going camping in the mountains, had a beautiful singing voice, and loved watching old westerns on television. She loved animals and also enjoyed putting puzzles together at home as well as with the residents at the nursing home. Nothing meant more to her than her family and friends. She was a caregiver her whole life and cared for everyone and all living animals. Nursing was her calling and there could never have been more of a perfect fit. She opened her home to those that had nowhere else to go over the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mark G. Brown, one son, Leyton "Neil" Brown, parents Vernon and Betty Woodward, Thelma and Holly Brown, and one brother Howard Woodward.
