Dodge City - Norma Jean Hays, 86, died December 4, 2017 at Hill Top House in Bucklin, Kansas.  She was born on April 11, 1931 in Jetmore, Kansas the daughter of Fred and Lydia (Miller) Ehrlich.

On October 22, 1950 she married Danny Hays in Jetmore; he preceded her in death on July 2, 2014. Together Norma Jean and Danny farmed in Hodgeman County for thirty eight years and owned and operated a hog business for seventeen years. They also formed DanNorma dog kennels together. In 1986, they moved to Dodge City.

Norma Jean is survived by daughters, Carol Johnson and husband Gary of Dodge City, and Cindy Carson and husband John of Greensburg; grandchildren, Jennifer Naumann and husband Sam of Coldwater, Christopher Stewart and wife Heather of Sabetha, Ryan Johnson and fiancé Kristina of Lewisville, TX, and Matthew Johnson and wife Molly of Dodge City; great grandchildren, Brett Peters, Daniel Naumann, Brennan Bieber, Brooklyn Bieber, and Gannon Johnson; siblings, Elsie Steinbring and husband Junior of Jetmore, Evelyn Burns of Jetmore, Darlene Patee and husband Ed Goble of Wichita and Darrell Ehrlich and wife Judy of Salina; and sister in law Karen Ehrlich of Surprise, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Lydia, husband Danny, brother Duane Ehrlich; brothers in law Max Burns and Ernie Patee.

Funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Dodge City on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Barney Korbelik, C.R.E. and Mr. Terry Mayhew presiding.  Burial will follow at 3:30 PM at Fairmount Cemetery in Jetmore.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or Hill Top House of Bucklin in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
