DODGE CITY - Norton E. "Bud" Askew, 88, died January 2, 2011 at his home in Ford County. He was born on July 15, 1922 at Dodge City the son of Norton E. and Mabel (Elgin) Askew.

Norton attended rural schools in Ford County and graduated from Ford High School. He was also a graduate of Dodge City Community College. Norton was a lifetime farmer and rancher. On November 19, 1944 he married Glee M. Renner at Bucklin. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2003.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Dodge City.

Norton is survived by three sons, Bob Askew of Goddard, Jim Askew and Steve Askew both of Dodge City; three daughters, Jeanette Baker of Amarillo, Texas, Barbara Sieker of Dodge City and Judy Swader of St. John; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; fiance, Vivian Barnes of Leoti. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Patsy Mahoney and Doris Jones.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Burial will follow at the Askew Family Farm in Ford County. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Crippled Children of Kansas in care of the funeral home.
