Obituary

Olive P. (Sinclair) Baldwin, 87, died Monday, August 16, 2010 at Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City. She was born on June 11, 1923 in Jetmore, the daughter of Thomas and Pearl Olive (Jones) Sinclair.

Olive grew up in Hodgeman County. She attended Kroma Grade School. On October 15, 1944, Olive married Hayes Baldwin at the Kalvesta Methodist Church. He survives. They made their home on the farm at Kalvesta. Olive was an integral part of the family business, Kalvesta Implement, where she kept the books for many years. She was a Sunday School teacher, Lay Leader at the Kalvesta Methodist Church, Sunday School Superintendent, and also served as a 4-H leader. Olive was very active in the community and church.

She was a member of Kalvesta Methodist Church, Kalvesta UMW, and the Finney County EHU.

In addition to her husband, Olive is survived by three daughters, Shari (Boehlke) Ward and husband Terry of Wichita, Dee Dick and husband Denny of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Cathy Baldwin of Kalvesta; one son, Bruce Baldwin and wife Debbie of Cimarron; four brothers, Mervin Sinclair of Dodge City, Cleason Sinclair of Sublette, Charles V. Sinclair of Dodge City, and Erskine Sinclair of Pan Handle, Texas; and one sister, Daisy Kenton of Dodge City. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Todd, Kara, and Jon Boehlke; Jason and Jeremy Dick; and Morgan and Corbin Baldwin; and three great grandchildren, Blair Boehlke, Dutch Dick, and Josh Farris. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Alex, Wilbur, Harry, and Francis; one sister, Lorraine Whipple; and one grandson, Christopher.

Funeral service will be held at Kalvesta Methodist Church on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Larry Danforth presiding. Burial will follow at Valleyview Cemetery in Garden City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron, on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Methodist Youthville, the Kalvesta Methodist Church, or to Alzheimers Research in care of the funeral home.
