Orin "Woody" Wade Wood, 71, died May 17, 2011 at Kinsley. He was born on August 30, 1939 at Alva, OK the son of Alten and Cora (Posey) Wood.

Woody graduated from Alva High School in 1958. Mr. Wood was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Roberta "Bobbi" Johnson on October 23, 1969 in Copeland. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2010. Mr. Wood was a heavy equipment operator and worked at several job sites across the central United States. Woody loved all kinds of racing and was a huge fan of Jeff Gordon.

He was a member of the American Legion of Dodge City.

Mr. Wood is survived by one daughter, Sheryl Wood of Dodge City; one sister, Ida Rae Wilkinson of Alva, OK; and one grandson, Zachary Knoeber of Dodge City. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, A.J. Wood.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Burial will follow at Copeland Cemetery in Copeland with military rites by the Copeland American Legion. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
