Our dear sister and aunt, Orpah Louise (Koehn) Boehs, was born November 10, 1944, in Montezuma, Kansas, to Otto and Carrie Koehn. She peacefully passed away at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas, on Tuesday afternoon, February 24, 2026, reaching the age of 81.

Orpah received her elementary education in Copeland, Kansas, graduating as Valedictorian from the 8th grade. She grew up on a farm, helping her mom and doing house jobs for others. She answered the call of God and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at Montezuma on February 15, 1959, by Minister Ervey Unruh. She remained faithful to her vows to the end.

On April 28, 1963, Orpah was married to TJ Boehs in Montezuma, by David J. Koehn. They enjoyed 57 years together until TJ passed away in December of 2020. They lived in Fairview, Oklahoma, until 1969 and then moved to Leland, Mississippi. After two and a half years, they moved to Macon, Mississippi, and lived there for forty-five years. The Brooksville congregation was dear to her. Orpah was a vital part of TJ's different occupations. She helped him in his farming, farm supply store, sharpening shop, and fish ponds. After retiring, they moved to Montezuma in February of 2017. In November of 2025, she moved into a Bethel Home apartment and was looking forward to walking the trail near her home.

Orpah was an outgoing person who loved people and made friends easily, and everyone loved her in return. Her family meant a lot to her. Though no children were born to Orpah, she took great interest in her nephews, nieces, and the events of their lives. She also loved to sing, and we won't forget her beautiful, low voice singing alto and bass. We also won't forget her good cooking and hospitality. Before her heart surgery, she told us if something would happen she was ready to go. Her calm spirit was noticed by the doctors and nurses. When it became apparent her recovery was uncertain, she communicated she wanted "to go Home." While we are sad, we are thankful she is Home.

Those left to cherish many memories are one brother, Kenneth Koehn of Montezuma; sister-in-law, Crystal Koehn of Montezuma; sister-in-law, Marise Boehs of Norman, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Nolan and Sharon Friesen, Macon, Mississippi, and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, four brothers, five sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law.

Funeral services will be at the Montezuma Mennonite Church on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Montezuma Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from noon to 5:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma. Memorials are suggested to the Brooksville Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
