Obituary

Garden City - Pamela Sue Kells, 72, died December 1, 2023, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.  She was born on August 19, 1951, in Montezuma, the daughter of Paul and Evelyn (Meyer) Brown.

As a child, Pam moved from Montezuma to Sublette with her family.  Pam was a 1969 graduate of Sublette High School where she developed her love for music and enjoyed playing her saxophone.  She went on to further her education as a Music major, first at Hutchinson Community College and then at Garden City Community College where she completed her Associates Degree.  She later loved playing her cello and Saxophone in worship services and in the Community Band summer series for many years in Garden
In 1971, Pam was united in marriage to Darcy Kells. They celebrated 52 years of marriage before Darcy passed away on October 11, 2023. The couple made their home on the family farm in northern Haskell County for 50 years where Pam helped Darcy on the farm. She loved animals, ran the equipment, cooked harvest meals and cared for their sons, Nathan and Vance. She was the epitome of a strong farm wife.

Darcy and Pam recently made their home in Garden City.  They were active members of Bible Christian Church where they were very involved in missionary work. In their earlier years they traveled to many countries on short term trips to help with building projects and sharing the gospel with the local people including Haiti, China, Thailand, Laos, and the Philippines to name a few.

Pam was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and a God loving woman.  She enjoyed spending time following her sons and later her grandchildren's school activities. She was also an Aunt, loved by her nieces and nephews.  Pam loved sewing and challenging herself, evident by the many beautiful quilts and wall hangings she created.

Pam is survived by two sons, Nathan Kells and wife Sarah and Vance Kells all of Garden City; grandchildren, Kaylee and Dusty Kelley, Emma and Jack Koehn, Colby Kells, Mia Kells, and Ali Kells; great-grandson Riley Kelley; sister, Nevada Brown of The Villages, Florida; two brothers Rex Brown and wife Rhonda of Sublette and Roy Brown and wife Laura of Satanta; brother-in-law, Donald Kells and wife Linda of Dewey Arizona; and sister-in-law, Kristi Cole and husband Jim of Satanta.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darcy; and a sister-in-law, Karolyn Kells.
