Dodge City - Patricia Lynn Childress, 65, died April 26, 2018 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma .  She was born on March 21, 1953 at Montezuma, Kansas the daughter of   Roy Dean and Colleen Abonale (Gum) Houser.

She married Bill Childress on  August 7, 1971 at the First United Methodist Church in Dodge City, he survives. Mrs. Childress graduated from Dodge City High School in 1971. She worked as a peer support at Compass Behavioral Health for over ten years. Mrs. Childress enjoyed helping people and attending her grandchildren's activities.

She is survived by her husband Bill Childress of the home: two sons Dion Childress and wife Samantha of Dodge City; Dustin Childress and wife Angela of Forth Worth, Texas ; one nephew Michael Todd Thummel of Wichita; five grandchildren Skyler Childress of Dodge City; Wyatt Childress of Dodge City; Parker Childress of Forth Worth, Texas; Hannah Childress of RAF Lakenheath, England and Mason Childress of Fort Worth, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Marsheila Thummel and one brother Gary Dean Houser.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday May 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Private inurnment will take place at a later time at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place .  Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
