Obituary


Montezuma - Patricia Jantzen, 81, died May 7, 2023 at Meade District Hospital in Meade.  She was born on May 10, 1941 at Orienta, Oklahoma the daughter of Leo and Leona (Eck) Nusz.

Patricia spent her early childhood near Fairview, Oklahoma where she attended elementary school.  Her family then moved to Montezuma where she finished her education in the Montezuma schools.  After graduation, she worked as a CNA for a time.  On March 27, 1960, Patricia was united in marriage to Nelson Jantzen at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Montezuma.

After their marriage, Nelson and Patricia made their home in Cimarron for a short time before moving to Montezuma.  Patricia continued working as a CNA but later stayed home to raise three children, Dennis, Kevin, and Annie.  She enjoyed genealogy, crafting, and spending time with friends and family, especially her siblings.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Nelson of Montezuma; three children, Dennis Jantzen of Dodge City, Kevin Jantzen and wife Teena of Meade, and Annie Stegman and husband Tron of Hugoton; six grandchildren, Jayde Jantzen, TJ Williams, Hayden Jantzen, Avory Stegman, Triston Stegman, and Terron Stegman; two great grandchildren, with a third arriving soon; and siblings, Lavonna Koehn and husband Jerry of Almena, Wisconsin, Virginia Schmidt and husband David of Montezuma, David Nusz and wife Rosie of Olathe Colorado, Les Nusz and wife Crystal of Galena, Missouri, Delbert Nusz and wife Lorraine of Ingalls, and Delinda Lanners and husband Mark of Cimarron.  She is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Larry Nusz, Kenneth Nusz, and Cynthia Nusz as well as two nieces Riki Warner and Rosalie Koehn.

Graveside service will be held at Morningside Cemetery, Montezuma on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Mr. Marshall Unruh presiding.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com .
