Patricia Colleen Schmidt, 76, died January 5, 2011 at her residence in Mannford, Oklahoma. She was born on September 17, 1934 at Jetmore, the daughter of Jess and Mary (Mitchell) King.

Patricia married Lee V. Schmidt on June 6, 1954 in Wichita. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1996. She was a retired co-owner, bookkeeper for Schmidt Sales, Inc., a business she and her husband opened in 1964 in Montezuma. They moved to Dodge City in 1984 and opened a gift store, The Cactus Patch, in Dodge City. She retired from there in 1996. She enjoyed golfing and traveling with her husband, gardening and working outdoors. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Schmidt is survived by one daughter, Debbie Hurt of Stuart, FL; one son, Brian Schmidt and wife Jennifer of Mannford, OK; two brothers, Jim King and wife Roseanne of Marble Falls, TX and John King and wife Doreen of Emporia; one sister, Sharon Reynolds of Dodge City; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Mary King; one son, Gary Lee Schmidt; one brother, Richard King; and one sister, Betty Crittenden.

Graveside funeral service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Charles Schmidt presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, January 7, 2011 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations to Hospice of the Prairie of Dodge City or Bethel Home of Montezuma in care of the funeral home.
