Obituary

Dodge City - Patricia Darlene Shrader, 83, died September 15, 2024 at her home in Dodge City. She was born on February 2, 1941 at Newton, Kansas the daughter of Orvall and Vivian (Woods) Reep.

She graduated from Burton High School in 1959 and attended Emporia State University from 1960-1962. She married Raymond E. Shrader on June 30, 1962 in Hutchinson, Kansas, he survives. Mrs. Shrader worked at the Dodge City Middle School for ten years and then worked twenty years for the Dodge City Chamber of Commerce and later went to work for the Dodge City Community College Nursing Program for five years before retiring. She served on the Dodge City Facilities Community Board (Why Not Dodge Project) and also volunteered for the American Cancer Society for fifteen years and was also a Methodist Church Wedding Consultant for ten years. She enjoyed activities with friends like card games, dancing, BBQ's. Pat loved decorating for the holidays and attending her grandchildren's activities. She was so very proud to say that her and Ray were the Co-founders of Circle of Hope Support Group here in Dodge City for thirty two years. Her and Ray were committed to promoting Dodge City.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Keystone Adult Class, Dodge City Drovers- Welcome Visitors to Dodge City, Red Hat Society, Cowtown Cuties, Life Member of the Delta Zeta Sorority PEO, Chapter HM, and the Philomath Club. She had a passion for helping people with cancer.

She is survived by her husband of Ray of the home; one son Kevin Shrader and wife Tania of Dodge City; one daughter Kristen Gabel of Dodge City; one sister Sandra Buller of Dodge City and one sister-in-law Janet Shrader of Concordia, Kansas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Trey Shrader, Taylor Shrader Calbreath and husband Greg, Tylyn Shrader Lumpkin and husband Connor, Dillon Gabel, Logan Gabel and Fiance' Ambria Rudy and Hannah Gabel. She is also survived by great grandson Jayce Gabel.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Berniece Ludlum presiding. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Ft. Dodge.  There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
