Dodge City - Patsy Burnett, 87, died January 19, 2024 at Sunporch Nursing Home in Dodge City. She was born on April 5, 1936 in California the daughter of William "Bill" and Wanda (Wilcox) Moote.
She married Shurley Burnett on October 30, 1954 in Reno, Nevada, he preceded her in death on April 30, 2006. She returned to Dodge City while Shurley completed his service in the Navy. They made their home in Dodge City where they raised their four children. Mrs. Burnett worked for USD #443 as a Para Professional and also worked in the school cafeteria. She was also employed with a insurance agency and a day care before retiring. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was always up for camping trip with her family. Mrs. Burnett enjoyed camping, reading, sewing, arts and crafts and gardening in her spare time.
She was a member of the Dodge City Church of Nazarene.
She is survived by two daughters Joli Baird and husband Danny of Dodge City; Greta Dohrmann and husband Craig of Dighton; son Greg Burnett and wife Debbie of Dodge City and one brother Tom Moote and wife Ginger of Grove, Oklahoma. She is also survived by five grandchildren Brad Burnett and wife Christina of Derby; Brent Burnett and wife Amber of Lawrence; Cortnie Price and husband Rick of Dighton; Neal Dohrmann and partner Nhut of Atlanta, Georgia and Jessica Baird of Dodge City; Granddaughter-in-law Kelsey Burnett of Cincinnati, Ohio and seventeen great grandchildren Kayla, Anthony, Andrew, Braydon, Kiley and Shane Burnett, Macie, Landrie, Ryland, Brylie, Rangler and Cheznie Price, Jerrick Lawson, Dannika and Priest Mercado.
She was preceded in death by her husband Shurley; son John Burnett; granddaughter Lyndsie Baird; grandson Brandon Burnett as well as two sisters Penny Martin; Vonnie Higginbotham and two brothers Billy Moote and Jim Moote.
Funeral service will be held at Dodge City Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday January 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
