Paul Raymond Gonzales, 66, of Dodge City, Kansas, died Friday, February 27, 2026 at Ascension Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born on May 5, 1959 in Dodge City, the son of Manuel and Esperanza "Blanche" Moreno Gonzales. Paul was raised in Dodge City where he played baseball while in Jr. and Sr. High School. During his senior year, he pitched a "No Hitter" game, of which his record held until recently. After graduating from high school in 1977, Paul continued playing baseball at St. Mary of the Plains College.
Paul lived in Massachusetts for a short time, returning to Dodge City where he made the rounds to the major packers in southwest Kansas. He later worked at WalMart for five years before retiring.
He was an avid bowhunter and fisherman. His favorite fishing spot was at Liley's Landon in Branson, Missouri. He was the holder of the family fishing trophy for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Jacobs, of the home who he married on May 3, 2003 in Dodge City. He is also survived by his daughter, Nichole Gonzales of Franklin, Mass.; grandson, Jace Gonzales; sister, Nora Mode and husband Kevin of Wichita; and Julie's daughter, Catherine Morejon (Jose Morejon-Perez) of Dodge City; and granddaughters, Ambrielle Traugott and Violet Morejon; as well as Julie's son, Kiel Beardshear and grandchildren Raife and Ripley. Paul is preceded in death by his parents and son Justin.
A memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on March 26, 2026 at 3:30 PM. There is no viewing as cremation has taken place. Memorials can be made to the Dodge City High School Baseball team. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guestbook at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
