Dodge City - Paul V. Torrez, 84, died March 16, 2014 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on June 26, 1929 in Wright, the son of Jose and Sara (Jaso) Torrez.

Paul worked for Broce Construction for 22 years as a concrete finisher and later for JAG Construction until he retired. He loved music and enjoyed having his family and friends around him. In 1948 he married Olivia Amaro at Jetmore.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City.

Paul is survived by a son, Ronney Torrez of Dodge City; three daughters, Mary Ann Timion and husband Dave of Dodge City, Rachael Torrez and Lucinda Torrez both of Wichita; nine sisters, Nellie Trujillo, Isabel Kelly, Teresa Mendez and Carol Torrez all of Dodge City, Lupe Torres, Eleanor Velasco, Josie Moreno, and Margaret Montez all of Wichita, and Delores Torrez of Marble Falls, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olivia Amaro Torrez; a son, Paul Torrez, Jr; four brothers, Mike, Mingo, Pascual, and Frank Torrez; and one sister, Jessie Rodriquez.

Rosary Service will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Terrance Klein presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
