PERCY E. LLOYD

DODGE CITY-Percy E. Lloyd, 85, died Monday, August 17, 2009 at Halsey Hall in Ft. Dodge, KS. He was born on May 12, 1924 in Dighton, the son of Davie and Pearl Eunice (Lloyd) Lloyd.

Percy grew up in Lane and Finney counties and attended schools there. Mr. Lloyd was in the U.S. Navy during World War II where is served in the South Pacific. Percy farmed in Lane and Finney counties and worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. He also owned Lloyd's Small Engine Repair shop in Dodge City. Percy enjoyed working on antique cars.

He was a member of Lifetime Member of Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W.

Percy is survived by his brother, Roland D. (Jack) Lloyd and wife Dolores of Dodge City; two nephews, Alan Lloyd and Davie Lloyd both of Dodge City; and two nieces, Kay Deaver and husband Denny and Norma Clare both of Dodge City. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Kansas Soldiers Home, Hospice of the Prairie, or Diabetes Foundation in care of the funeral home. Personal Condolences may be left at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
