Dodge City - Petronillo "Tony" Remigio, 91, died July 11, 2018 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on May 31, 1927 at Spearville the son of Epeminio and Magdalena Remigio.
He married Mary E. Martinez on August 7, 1948 in the Mexican Village, she survives. Mr. Remigio was a avid KU Jayhawk fan. He enjoyed boxing, coaching men's and women's softball, Babe Ruth Baseball, and umpiring church league softball. He served on the draft board for several years. He was a mentor to many young people and touched many, many lives.
He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City.
He is survived by his wife Mary of the home; three daughters Advera "Addie" Remigio; Dorothy "Dot" Sumaya and husband Nacho; Barbara Rios and husband Vicente all of Dodge City.He is also survived by six grandchildren Jeff Remigio and wife Bianca, Jenna Sumaya and Troy Koerner, James Sumaya and wife Stefanie, Yesenia Rios, Vicente Rios Jr., Jose Alberto Rios and Yaime Gonzales, three great grandchildren Allie Rios, Valeria Rios, Katalia Rios as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday July 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A Vigil service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 7:00 PM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Memorials are suggested to Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe or Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
