PHILLIP K. "SKEETER" AVRITT
Dodge City - Phillip K. "Skeeter" Avritt, 74, died August 26, 2014 at his residence in Dodge City. He was born on December 24, 1939 at Hydro, Oklahoma the son of William O. and Wilma Mae (Patrick) Avritt.
He graduated from Dodge City High School and took engineer school with the U.S. Navy. Skeeter worked for several counties as an engineer and mechanic including Greenwood, Reno, Hodgeman and Ford counties. He also drove a school bus for Dodge City and was a "Jack of All Trades". He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962. On May 2, 1997 he married Anna Wordelman.
Phillip is survived by his wife Anna Avritt, Dodge City; sons David Avritt and wife Katie, Scott Avritt and Richard Avritt and girlfriend Dianne Austin all of Dodge City, William and wife Lacy and Patrick Avritt both of Eureka; a daughter Peggy Cecil and husband Randy of Dodge City and a sister Penny Alger, Dodge City; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Skeeter was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Allen M. Avritt.
A memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
