Obituary

Phillis "Kae" Bryant, 85, passed away March 29, 2026 at her home in Ensign, KS surrounded by her family. She was born May 22,1940 in Dodge City, to Bernard Jacob and Olah Jean (Gallatin) Reinert.

Kae grew up in Ensign, KS and graduated from Ensign High School in 1958. She married her high school sweetheart, Jim Bryant, on November 28 th , 1958 in Dodge City. They were married for 42 years.

Kae's first job was at KTVC, a local TV Station, as a program typist. She worked at the Farmer's CO-OP in Ensign, KS for three years before she was employed by Ensign High School as a secretary for many years. She then worked as a cattle clerk at Gray County Feedyard for 32 years before retiring in 2012.

Kae was a devoted club leader for the Ensign Boosters 4-H Club for many years. In her free time you would normally find her at her sewing machine. She had a passion for quilting and needlework, receiving multiple State Fair awards on her quilting. She was always willing to mend or hem various articles of clothing or stuffed animals for all of her kids and grandkids. Kae was a lover of flowers; especially her peonies, geraniums and "Bubble Gum" petunias. She was also an avid reader. Her greatest joy was being "Grandma Kae" to five grandkids, five great grand kids and knowing there would be one more due in July.

She was preceded in death by her husband , Jim, in 2001; both of her parents; and her brother in-law, Duane McGee. Survivors include two sons, Gary and wife Melinda, and Rodney and wife Lana, all of Ensign; grandkids, Ryan Bryant and wife Lindsay of Dodge City, Breanna Eakes and husband Cody of Plains, Andrea Seaton and husband Tayler of Cimarron, Weston Bryant of Montezuma, and Carson Bryant of Ensign; great grandkids, Carley, Brayden, and Karady Eakes, Delaney Seaton, and Chase Bryant. She is also survived by one sister, Patty McGee of Dodge City; two brothers, Jim and wife Connie Rienert of Ensign and Bernie Reinert and companion, Jerry Pollich, of Wichita; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She will always be remembered for her deep love and devotion to her family, her many funny sayings, and her constant attention to detail.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at First Christian Church in Dodge City. Burial will follow at the Ensign Cemetery. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5-7 PM.
