DODGE CITY - Phyllis Catherine Cohoon, 94, died November 10, 2018 after a short illness under hospice care. She was born in Ensign, Kansas on February 14, 1924 the daughter of Frederick and Margaret Mary (Spanier) Kramer.
She graduated from Cimarron High School and was a member of the First Christian Church, Dodge City.
In 2017 Phyllis relocated to Topeka and resided at Thornton Place, an independent living community.
Phyllis married Jack W. Cohoon in 1946. Together Jack and Phyllis owned Cohoon's Hobby and Handicraft in Dodge City for over 25 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki (Cohoon) Sundberg and husband Steve of Topeka; daughter-in-law, Debby Cohoon of Hutchison, the wife of the late Dr. Kelly Cohoon; and Son, Larry Cohoon and wife Debbie of Derby; two sisters, Bertha "Bertie" Madden of Hutchison, and Barbara Trent of El Dorado; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, son Kelly and 7 siblings.
Funeral service will be held at the First Christian Church on Friday November 16, 2018 at 10:30 AM with Mr. Dusty Cookson presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Book Signing will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday November 15, 2018 from Noon to 5:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Interim Healthcare of Topeka in care of the funeral home.
