Obituary

Pilar Briseno "Hobbs", 82, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Western Plains Medical Complex at Dodge City, KS. She was born on July 19, 1928 at Dodge City, KS the daughter of Juan and Felipa (Martel) Briseno.

She worked for Fairmount Milk Company,The O'Neal Hotel, Lora Locke Hotel, Holiday Inn, and retired from Western Plains Medical Complex after 23 years of service. She married Ray Hobbs in Dodge City in 1963. She enjoyed baking, reading, and gardening in her spare time.

She was a member of Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe, Altar Society and the GI Forum all of Dodge City.

Survivors one daughter Esmeralda Alvarado of Dodge City, two sisters Phyllis Briseno of Dodge City,Julia Pate and husband Walter of Kansas City,Missouri. One brother Louis Briseno and companion Nellie Herrera of Dodge City. She is also survived by three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers Frank, Steven, Guadalupe, Richard and two sisters Dora Martinez and Jovita Rodriguez.

Vigil service will be held at Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 7:00 PM. The funeral mass will be held at the Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe on Friday August 20, 2010 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City, KS. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Pilar Hobbs Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
