Obituary

Quincy Lovell Smith, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a short battle with cancer on October 29, 2023, at his home in Ensign.

He was born July 4, 1938, to James Ray and Opal Smith on their farm outside of Chester, OK. He graduated from Seiling High School in 1956 in Seiling, OK. He spent three years in the army; two and a half of those years overseas in Europe and France. After his military years, he went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and soon transferred to Dodge City, Kansas where he met Sharon Jantz at church and they were married in May 1982. They made their home in Ensign, KS and had three daughters.

He worked for Southwestern Bell/AT&T telephone company for over 30 years. He then retired from AT&T in 1994 to begin his farming career. His farming years consisted of dry land farming and a cow-calf herd. His wife of 24 years passed on in November of 2006. Although he missed her greatly, he continued to live in Ensign and farm until July 2023. He loved working with his cattle and working the land from planting to harvesting.

His goal in life was to serve the Lord in everything he did. He was faithful to God's Word and taught Sunday School and Bible Studies for over 30 years. He impacted the lives of many people and used every opportunity to glorify the Lord.

In the last years of his life, he greatly enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He always looked forward to Fourth of July weekends and Thanksgiving holidays when all his children and grandchildren would gather together on the farm. He will be greatly missed, but the memories made with him will never be forgotten.

He is survived by three daughters, Serena Nabeta and husband Luke of Colorado Springs, CO, Jena Moore and husband Russell of Edmond, OK, and Krissa Finch and husband Ryan of Lexington, KY, and thirteen grandchildren. He leaves behind two brothers, Raymond Smith of Fairview, OK, Vern Smith of Enid, OK, and one sister, Janessa Smith of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one sister and one brother.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on November 10, 2023 at Grace Community Church in Dodge City with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Burial service will follow at Johnson Cemetery in rural Gray County. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on November 9th from 12-8pm. Memorials can be made to Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book atwww.swaimfuneralhome.com.
